A reminder that The OneClay Digital Classroom Initiative begins today. This initiative helps you to engage in your child's education by providing one place to access your child's grades, assignments, and digital resources. The Digital Classroom Initiative empowers our students with three new and exciting ways to manage their learning: the OneClay Student Portal, the Focus Student Portal, and Google Apps for Education. If you have a child in grades 3-12, then their Google Apps for Education account is active today, unless you chose to opt out. For more information about this initiative, including how to access your child’s accounts, please visit our website at oneclay.net.
On Friday, October 2, our fourth graders had another exciting hands-on learning opportunity. Mrs. Patrylo invited Florida Industrial and Phosphate Research to present both their "Florida's Ancient Oceans" program, as well as their Kids Dig It! Fossil Kits.
“Florida’s Ancient Oceans” is a role-play that condenses four epochs of geologic time representing a span of 24 million years. Blue cloth “oceans” are moved on top of a canvas map base to outlines that represent the peninsula’s footprint at various points of geologic time. Players responding to climate cues use puppets of animals that inhabited Florida through time to demonstrate animals’ interaction with the habitat. When a habitat changes markedly, animals respond in one of three ways: they flee, they adapt, or they become extinct.
The Fossil Kits were comprised of dig boxes of fossils from the Miocene, Pliocene and Pleistocene epochs. Students dug through the boxes to see what they could find. Check out our Facebook page for more photos.
K-2 parents will need to go to the “my child” tab, then click on "view printed report cards." Once you have been redirected to the "view printed report cards" page, you will click on the printer icon next to the most recent print date and it will produce the report for viewing and printing. We hope this will help those parents that have been unable to view there students report card or interim
